About the Web User Interface

  • Allows you to access and change the T-Mobile LTE Wi-Fi Gateway settings
  • Must be connected to the T-Mobile LTE Wi-Fi Gateway through Wi-Fi or Ethernet to access
  • Designed to work with most modern browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Safari
  • Receive and send text messages and notifications about your billing and services (for T-Mobile Home Internet only customers)

Log in

You must disconnect any VPNs in use to connect to login.

  1. Power on your T-Mobile LTE Wi-Fi gateway and connect to it over Ethernet or Wi-Fi. See Getting started: T-Mobile LTE WiFi Gateway.
  2. Open a web browser and visit http://192.168.1.1.
  3. Log in with your username and password.
    • For devices purchased beforeDecember 31, 2019, the default username and password is admin.
    • For devices purchased afterDecember 31, 2019, the default password will match the Wi-Fi Password on the label.

Network information & settings (Wi-Fi, LTE, APN)

View and change network information and settings in the T-Mobile LTE Wi-Fi Gateway.

Network Map

Select Basic > Network > Network Map to view information on the Internet, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi connections.

  • A green check means connected. A red X means disconnected or disabled.
  • Click Connected devices to view a list of devices connected to either LTE or Wi-Fi. Click a device to view the MAC and IP addresses for that device.

Network Status

Select Basic > Network > Status to view information about your LTE and Home network connections, including:

  • IPv4, IPv6, and DNS addresses for the LTE connection
  • Signal strength and SIM status for the LTE connection
  • MAC and IP addresses for the T-Mobile LTE Wi-Fi Gateway (LAN)
  • Wi-Fi network name, status, mode, channel, and bandwidth
  • IMEI, SIM card number (ICCID), Phone number (MSISDN)

LTE & APN settings

Select Basic > Network > LTE to view and change the following LTE settings:

  • Internet and SIM status
  • Disconnect from the internet
  • Data roaming (this setting will not allow you to move your T-Mobile Home Internet service)
  • Airplane mode
  • Connection profile settings:
    • APN: fbb.home
    • Username: [blank]
    • Password: [blank]
    • Authentication Type: None
    • PDN Type: IPv6

Select Expert > Network > LTE to view and change the following additional LTE settings:

  • SIM Management settings to enable a SIM PIN.
    • PIN Protected (on/off): Enter your PIN and click Save (default PIN is 1234).
    • Change PIN (on/off): Enter your current and new PINs, then click Save.

T-Mobile does not recommend using a SIM PIN for this device, since it only works in the LTE Wi-Fi Gateway and is locked to your location. If the SIM PIN is enabled, you must go to Basic > Network > LTE and enter the SIM PIN every time the Gateway turns on. If you enter the incorrect PIN too many times, you will be prompted to enter the PUK and a new PIN. Contact Us if you need your PUK code.

Wi-Fi settings

Select Basic > Network > Wi-Fi, then choose 2.4 GHZ or 5 GHZ at the top to view and change these Wi-Fi settings. You must change 2.4 and 5 GHz settings separately. Select Save if you make any changes.

  • Turn Wi-Fi on or off
  • Wireless Name (SSID)
  • Wireless Password (must be 12 characters)
  • Hide SSID

Select Expert > Network > Wi-Fi, then choose 2.4 GHZ or 5 GHZ at the top to view and change these additional Wi-Fi settings. You must change 2.4 and 5 GHz settings separately. Select Save if you make any changes.

    • 2.4 GHZ default is 802.11g/n mixed
    • 5 GHz default is 802.11a/ac/n mixed

LAN Settings

Select Expert > Network > LAN to view and change these LAN settings. Select Save if you make any changes.

  • Basic
    • MAC and IP addresses of the T-Mobile LTE Wi-Fi Gateway
    • Subnet Mask
  • Advanced
    • DHCPS on/off (default is on)
      The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Server (DHCPS) automatically assigns IP addresses to devices that connect via ethernet or Wi-Fi
    • IP Address Pool (default is 100 - 150)
      This is the IP address range the DHCPS can assign. You can't connect more devices than you have IP addresses available to the DHCPS.
    • Primary DNS (default is blank)
      The Domain Name System (DNS) translates web URLs like T-Mobile.com into the actual IP address of the web server.
    • Secondary DNS (default is blank)

Traffic Query (data usage)

Select Basic > Network > Traffic Query to view information about your data usage.

Parental control

Select Basic > Parental Controls to block internet usage on specific devices during specific hours or days.

Turn Parental Control on or off

  • Select the switch at the top of the screen to turn Parental Controls on or off.
  • Turning Parental Controls off will remove restrictions for all devices

Add a new device to Parental Controls

  1. Select ADD NEW on the Parental Controls screen.
  2. If the device is already connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet, select the Client drop-down and choose the device. Otherwise manually enter the MAC address and description.
    • Most devices will have a name that makes them easy to identify in the Client drop-down.
    • If not, you'll need to find the MAC address of the device to select the correct one. Contact the device manufacturer for steps.
  3. Click APPLY to add the device.

Set the schedule for a new device

  1. After you've added a device, select SCHEDULE to choose when the device can access the internet.
    • Red squares mean the Internet is blocked for that device. White squares mean the Internet will work. Select a square to change its color.
    • The schedule starts by blocking Internet access at all times. Select CLEAR ALL if you want to start by allowing Internet access at all times.
    • You can block time in 30 minute increments. Use the red up and down arrows to scroll through the time.
    • Once a device is on a schedule, it can't be blocked.
  2. Click SAVE SCHEDULE once you're done setting it up.
  3. Click Edit > Enable This Entry checkbox.

Remove a device from Parental Controls

  • To remove an individual device, click REMOVE next to that device.
  • To remove all devices, click DELETE ALL.

Text messages (SMS)

Home Internet only customers can use the Web User Interface to receive important notifications about their billing and services.

View and delete messages

  1. Log in to the Web User Interface.
  2. Navigate to Expert > SMS to view and send text message if it's supported by your rate plan.
  3. Select Inbox to view your incoming messages.
  4. Double-click a message to view it.
  5. Click the trash icon to delete it.
  6. Select DELETE ALL to delete all messages.

Send new message

  1. Select New Message to create a new message.
  2. Enter the phone number and message content, then click Send. You must enter +1 before the 10-digit phone number.

Quality of Service (QoS)

Select Expert > Quality of Service to give priority to a specific device on your network, like if there's a device used for streaming that you never want to buffer.

Turn QoS on or off

  • Select the switch at the top of the Quality of Service screen to turn QoS on or off.
  • When QoS is off, the T-Mobile LTE Wi-Fi Gateway will automatically manage your bandwidth,

Add a device

  1. Select ADD NEW in the Quality of Service screen.
  2. If the device is already connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet, select the Client drop-down and choose the device. Otherwise manually enter the MAC address.
    • Most devices will have a name that makes them easy to identify in the Client drop-down.
    • If not, you'll need to find the MAC address of the device to select the correct one. Contact the device manufacturer for steps.
  3. Select the device priority. 1 is the highest priority, 15 is the lowest priority.
  4. Enter the amount of bandwidth in kbps that you want dedicated to the device.
  5. Enter a description of the device, then click APPLY.

Delete a device

  • Select REMOVE next to the device on the Quality of Service screen to delete that device.
  • Select DELETE ALL to remove all devices from Quality of Service.

Device settings and reset

Change Home Internet device password (Administration password)

  • Select Expert > Device Settings > Administration to change the Home Internet device password.
  • Changing the password will prevent anyone who can connect to Wi-Fi from accessing the Web User Interface and adjusting settings.
  • Enter the current password, new password, and confirm the new password, then select Save.

Set Date & Time

  • Select Expert > Device Settings > Date & Time to adjust where the T-Mobile LTE Wi-Fi Gateway gets its Time & Date information.
  • Choose Automatically to let the device update itself automatically.
  • Choose SNTP to select your time zone and manually enter your NTP server.

Update the firmware

  • The T-Mobile LTE Wi-Fi Gateway will automatically update the firmware. You can't manually update in the web interface.
  • To view the current firmware version, select Expert > Device Settings > Firmware.
    • 94432: Bug fixes
    • 92413: Fixes issues with QR code and enhances protection of system configuration files
    • 91646: Resolved connectivity issues for Cloud Companion App required devices.
    • 90234: Original firmware

Backup

  1. Select Expert > Device Settings > Backup / Restore.
  2. Click Backup and wait for your device to prepare the backup. This includes all your gateway settings, including the Home Internet device password (Administration password).
  3. Click Download and save the XAPConfig.zip file in a location where you can find it again. We recommend in your documents folder.

Restore

  1. Select Expert > Device Settings > Backup / Restore.
  2. Click Select File, then navigate to and select the desired file. The default file name is XAPConfig.zip.
  3. Click Restore. Wait while your device restores the settings and reboots.

Reset to factory default settings

  • Select Expert > Device Settings > Backup / Restore > Factory Restore to reset the device to factory default settings.
  • You can also press and hold the Reset button on the back of the T-Mobile LTE Wi-Fi Gateway until the three status lights on top change red. Release the button and the Gateway will reboot.

NAT Forwarding

While T-Mobile does not support setting up or using NAT Forwarding, the settings are available. Select Expert > NAT Forwarding to view the following settings.

DMZ

A Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is an isolated area in your local network where a computer runs outside the firewall and receives/intercepts all incoming Internet traffic. Check the user guide at the bottom of this document for additional information.

  • DMZ on/off (default is off)
  • Client drop-down to choose which device the DMZ applies to
  • DMZ Host IP Address to manually enter if it's not in the client drop-down

UPnP

  • Universal plug-and-play (UPnP) is a set of networking protocols which enable network devices to communicate and automatically establish working configurations with each other.
  • Check the user guide attached to the bottom of this document for additional information.
  • You can only turn UPnP on or off (default is off). There are no additional settings to adjust.

ALG

Application Level Gateway (ALG) settings are advanced functions that can resolve issues where services are disrupted by the firewall. Check the user guide below for additional information.

Virtual Servers let you set up an internet service on a local computer, without exposing the local computer to the internet. Check the user guide at the bottom of this document for additional info.

Access Control (whitelist or blacklist)

Access control lets you control who can connect to your LTE Wi-Fi Gateway. You can set up a blacklist, which prevents specific devices from connecting to your device. Or you can set up a whitelist, which only allows devices on the list to connect. If you're setting up a whitelist, be sure to whitelist the device you're currently using. Otherwise, you may lock yourself out of the LTE Wi-Fi Gateway and will need to reset it.

  1. Select Expert > Security > Access Control.
  2. Tap the switch next to Access Control to turn it on.
  3. Select if you're setting up a Blacklist or Whitelist, then click Add New.
  4. Choose a device from the Client menu, or manually type in the MAC address of the device you're adding.
  5. Enter the name for this device.
  6. Make sure to check the box at the top next to ENABLE THIS ENTRY. This box lets you quickly turn Access Control on and off for that device.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. To delete an entry, click the REMOVE icon next to the device you want to delete.

Additional settings

Select Expert > Security to view the following additional settings.

  • Firewall
    • SPI Firewall on/off (default is on)
      Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) only lets packets matching a known active connection through the firewall.
    • DoS Protection on/off (default is on)
      Denial-of-Service (DOS) is a common form of malicious attack against a network.
    • WAN Block Ping on/off (default is on)
      When active, the Wi-Fi gateway will not answer ping requests from the internet.
    • LAN Block Ping on/off (default is off)
      When active, the Wi-Fi gateway will not answer ping requests from the local network.
  • IP/MAC binding (lets you assign a static IP address to a device, instead of letting the DHCP server assign a dynamic one)
    • IP/MAC binding on/off (default is off)

Diagnostics

  • Select Expert > Diagnostic to run an Ping or Traceroute test.
  • Choose the test type, enter the IP Address or Domain name, then click Start.
