Thank you for downloading OpenLink Lite ODBC Driver for MySQL 4.x for Mac from our software library. The license type of the downloaded application is shareware. This license type may impose certain restrictions on functionality or only provide an evaluation period. The download was scanned for viruses by our system. The stable version, is compliant with the ODBC 3.51 specification, Level 1 (complete Core API and Level 2 features). Connector/ODBC is available for Microsoft Windows, as well as many Unix systems (including Linux, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, IBM AIX, and Mac OS X). Download MyODBC for Unix systems.

applications (Mac OS 10.6) don't see the odbc driver

Hello.
I know this has been discussed already, but I think I've read all there is about this, and still can't get it to work.
My main goal is to connect to MySQL database with Stata. 5.1.42 MySQL is up and running. I have downloaded ODBC driver (mysql-connector-odbc-3.51.27-osx10.5-x86-32bit.dmg) and I have iODBC manager. I add the DSN, I think I configure it correctly, because testing it is a success. It seems to connect to my database just fine.
But when I try to connect to it with Stata, it doesn't even list my DSN in the options. It lists some other DSN though, that I didn't create, it seems to be there by default. Here is what Stata tells me:
. odbc list
Data Source Name - myodbc
Driver - MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver
If I try to open that DSN (which is not the one I want to use):
. odbc query 'myodbc'
The ODBC driver reported the following diagnostics
[iODBC][Driver Manager]dlopen(/usr/local/lib/libmyodbc3.so, 6): no suitable image found. Did find:
/usr/local/lib/libmyodbc3.so: mach-o, but wrong architecture
SQLSTATE=00000
[iODBC][Driver Manager]Specified driver could not be loaded
SQLSTATE=IM003
r(682);
I have tried to connect to my database 'genius' through NeoOffice, but it faces the exact same problem: it doesn't see my created DSN, but instead offers me this 'myodbc', that I don't even know how it got there.
I erased that 'myodbc' DSN in the driver manager and added my own 'genius', but applications insist on using 'myodbc' and ignore 'genius'.
Another thing: for some reason I cannot configure the DSN once it is created, iODBC manager just crashes and I have to erase the DSN and create a new one if I want to change anything in it.
I have also tried the newer version of the odbc driver, 5.1, but it didn't help.
I am sorry for this very long message, I am new to this, and I have tried to use all other sources before starting to bug people. Now I am desperate. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
Let me know if I didn't mention something very important in the process.
Thank you.
